This is the magazine that introduced me, that lead me, that informed me. The pages I stared at enraptured over hours and hours anytime I could get my hands on one or pull together the cash to buy one for myself. The legendary SURFER Magazine was being celebrated and the surf community showed up to lift a glass and talk story.
One of the beautiful things about the California Surf Festival is how personal and open the feel is. Members and festival goers are able to enjoy and evening of VIP treatment in the museum with some of the best local food and drink while being feet even inches away from the legends of our culture and heroes of this passion we call surfing.

This special gathering was the VIP party prior to the main event for 50 Years of SURFER magazine.
I hung with s few of the guys I used to stare at in those pages and a few I even had posters of on my wall. A few of the people hanging; Shaun Tomson, PT, Drew Kampion, Sal Masekela, the lovely Erica Hosseini, Mike Hynson, Danny Mack, Rick Irons, Rob Machado, Evan Slater, Jesse Faen, Gary Linden, Pat Rawson, Clark Little, Sam George, Joel Patterson just to name a few.
