Boards for California Summer Style WavesIn California we have pretty consistent surf, meaning there is almost always something. Maybe it’s not that good but it’s something. 2-4 ft a little on shore a little slow but the ride boards can make it all fun. The way to be prepared is to have that board that can make a good session out of poor surf and even Bad surf. “New Toy”
I surfed the 6’2” version of the versatile made for California quad. It just goes; it’s a great paddler, quick down the line, through sections and you can even get some nice carving in the pocket with it. The only draw back may be it’s width, one of the features that helps so much in typical low surf conditions. I feel it’s a little wide in bigger surf, higher speed and more hollow faces.
